Pt 2 Power and Purpose!

Looking for purpose! This is something that has been on my mind for years. I use to believe that it was tied to your profession like for instance to be a doctor, lawyer, or teacher. For years, I was in search for it! I just really wanted to know what was my purpose and why was I created?  Was it for “one thing” or several different reasons? Over the years I’ve read self help books and listen to people give their testimonies on this topic, however I was never able to find a connection as it relates to me. One of the most common factors that I can admit too that all of the books and videos that I’ve watched over the years share is that when you finally discover what your Purpose is you will have a sense of clarity! It’s just one of those things that you know when it happens. Think of it as having an internal sensory, an aha moment, or epiphany! Everything that you would have been going through will align and it will suddenly make sense; this “new found discover” will be at the essence of who you are.

When I attended church last week and the pastor was giving a sermon on Power and Purpose. I finally had my aha moment! I found the last piece to the puzzle that I have been trying to solve for years. I get emotional now just writing about it. He said that power and purpose are undeniably intertwined with Fellowship, servicing, and camaraderie. That statement is true because, although it is your PURPOSE, the purpose is not all about you!

My aha moment happened when I was able to connect my gifts and passions to what the pastor was talking about in his sermon Power and Purpose. It all of a sudden made sense. I no longer was doubtful, In denial, or confused about what my gifts and passions were.

For me personally, I can admit that I just didn’t know what my gifts or passions were. Since I have a realism type personality it needs to be covered with facts for me to see it. I’ve never considered myself a creative person until recently and since I don’t have any known talents or things I deem to be exceptional great at; it was hard for me to identify what my gifts were. Now don’t get me wrong I have alot of gifts and great qualities, however nothing that I could pin point! As far as me feeling passionate about certain things nothing really had peaked my interest that made my antennas go up, and that was because I didn’t know myself!

In order for you to get to this place of discovery and finding your Purpose; I encourage you to start taking the time to find YOURSELF! When I say that I don’t mean it lightly…you really have to dig deep and do the work. Then and only then will you be able to make the correlation.

As for me now, I know what my gifts and passions are and it’s  because I have taken the time to learn myself. I have always been a lover of literature! From the time that i can remember books have always been a huge part of my life. I remember being a kid reading books at lunchtime instead of eating. As an adolescent books were my safe haven or escape from my reality. Fast forward to being an adult and making sacrifices for the love of reading so it’s unbeknownst to me that writing would be at the focal point of one of my gifts! As i mentioned earlier I have a realism type of personality so i have always been someone that was straight forward, cut and dry, and very blunt as time so it doesn’t surprise me that my gifts are at the center of who I am as a person. One of my gifts is I have the ability to be transparent and forthright those qualities aligned with the fact that I have the gift of being able to articulate my thoughts in a way that is not only receptive to others but relatable.

It took a while for me to figure out the things that I’m passionate about, because I had to go through a few things in life to get there. My desire to help people better themselves is my passion. Especially, someone who may have been raised in a similar background as I have is so rewarding.  I’m passionate about being real and speaking my truth whether or not it makes me vulnerable; so that maybe someone who may be in a similar situation as i have too faced can identify themselves in me or the things that I have experienced and decide to make the necessary changes. Just being able to give someone the advantage is what drives me.

Your Gifts + Your Passions aligned with the POWER IS THE NEXT STEP!  ANWERS THIS QUESTIONS????YOU ARE INVOLVED? ARE YOU ACTIVE? DO YOU HAVE THE DRIVE? DO YOU HAVE THE COURAGE? DO YOU HAVE THE DETERIMATION? ARE YOU CONSISTENT? WILL YOU DO IT WILLINGLY OR ITS ABOUT THE MONEY? CAN IT BE USED TO REACH OTHERS? IS IT OF SERVICE TO OTHERS? IF YOU ANSWERED YES TO ALL OF THESE QUESTION THEN YOU HAVE FOUND YOUR PURPOSE!

It’s that simple  your Gifts+ Passion + Power= PURPOSE! Lastly to answer the question I insinuated earlier about rather or not your Purpose is tied to one particular reason…I believe that it is not! We are forever changing, growing, and evolving so it would be crazy to limit yourself to one cause! So rather im using my Purpose to Encourage and Uplift people by bloging, or using my Passions to spread awareness and Positivity through my Black Active Apparel  Clothing Brand, or even by me just freely giving advice to anyone who is willing to listen; I know thats these Endeavors are all apart of my Purpose and Journey!

In closing, the most amazing thing about finding your Purpose is that it will automatically open more doors and opportunities for you to reach more people! SO I ENCOURAGE YOU TO START THE PROCESS OF FINDING YOURSELF! FIND YOUR GIFTS! FIND YOUR PASSIONS AND USE YOUR POWER TO WORK FOR YOUR PURPOSE! ✌&💜
